Citizen Science - River Char Action Group

Would you like to join our Citizen Science Group?

Thursday 5th Feb | 6-9pm | Wootton Fitzpaine Social Club (next to the Village Hall)

We’ll start with 2 informal, half-hour sessions on river monitoring. Find out how to help us:
  • Measure water quality (phosphate, dissolved solids, turbidity and water temperature, using simple field test kits.
  • Record visible signs of pollution (e.g. sewage fungus, discoloured water, odour, foams, algal blooms).
  • Note habitat and channel features (flow, substrate, bank condition) and nearby land use (fields, roads, settlements).
  • Log wildlife and other features of interest, both positive (e.g. kingfishers, water voles) and negative (e.g. invasive plants).for That raises some questions.

Entry free – paying bar and sandwiches.

You don't need a ticket to attend. But contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
