Let's Keep Chemicals out of our River

How we can all help nature recover

An evening of practical talks
Wednesday 25 November 2026. 7.00 pm
St Andrew’s Hall, Lower Sea Lane, Charmouth DT6 6LH

Are you worried that the chemicals we use in our lives are damaging to nature, to our health and the health of our children?

The products we use at home, in our gardens and on our pets can find their way into our soil, streams and river.

Join local experts to discover practical ways to reduce pollution and give nature room to recover.

Three practical talks on how to STOP pollution getting into the River Char…
From our homes: Mark Kibblewhite
From our Gardens: Julie Leah
From our Pets: John Kenward

Refreshments provided ~ donations welcome. Entry: Free

Mark Kibblewhite

Julie Leah has been a gardener for 20 years. She is a molecular biologist by training and previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry with a PhD in parasitology.

She has a passion for protecting wildlife, in particular understanding how simple changes in our use of chemicals and how we garden can create huge changes for our natural environment.

John Kenward is a retired veterinary surgeon, who is well qualified to tell us about the latest thinking in parasite control in domestic animals, the harmful effects this has on the natural environment and especially the river, and suggestions on how to avoid them.

John set up and runs the River Char Action Group’s Home Laboratory and works closely with Wessex Water to validate test results.
